Beaumont Hospital Foundation would like to extend a huge thank you and congratulations to Adam Riordan, who raised an incredible €5,795 in support of the National Neuroscience Centre at Beaumont Hospital.

Adam took on both the Paris Marathon and the Connemara Ultra Marathon as a way of giving back and showing appreciation for the exceptional care his mother, Carol, received at Beaumont Hospital following emergency brain surgery last year.

Carol had been undergoing treatment for leukaemia when she became seriously unwell in October and was rushed to Beaumont Hospital, where a large brain tumour was discovered. She underwent emergency surgery at Beaumont’s National Neuroscience Centre, and Adam has spoken about the enormous gratitude his family feels for the care and support they received throughout her treatment and recovery.

In preparation for the challenge, Adam completed months of training before successfully taking on the Paris Marathon in April, followed just one week later by the demanding Connemara Ultra Marathon.

Throughout his fundraising journey, Adam received incredible support from friends, family, colleagues and his employer.

Recently, Beaumont Hospital Foundation was delighted to welcome Adam, Carol and members of their family to Beaumont Hospital for a special cheque presentation alongside Mr. Gulam Zilani, Consultant Neurosurgeon at Beaumont Hospital.

Speaking about his motivation for fundraising, Adam shared that he wanted to do something meaningful in recognition of the lifesaving care his mother received and to support future patients and families attending the National Neuroscience Centre.

Funds raised through initiatives like Adam’s help Beaumont Hospital Foundation continue to support patient care, medical equipment, innovation and advancements across Beaumont Hospital’s National Neuroscience Centre.

Everyone at Beaumont Hospital Foundation would like to sincerely thank Adam for his determination, generosity and incredible support. We are so grateful for everything he has done in support of Beaumont Hospital and future patients.
