Clare Geraghty's Kilimanjaro Climb

BACK »
In 2008, eighteen year old, Clare Geraghty and her brother Donncha, from Ballindine in Co Mayo were involved in a two car collision near Claremorris. She and her twin sister had ony just celebrated their eighteenth birthday the week before and while her brother - who was the passenger - had light injuries, Clare was in a critical condition.

She was rushed to Mayo General Hospital and then transferred to Beaumont Hospital where she spent a month in ICU. Clare has no memory of the month she spent in Beaumont where she was under the care of neurosurgeon Chris Pidgeon who has since retired.

Thankfully, Clare has made a full recovery and earlier this year she climbed Kilimanjaro and raised an amazing €10,074 funds for Beaumont Hospital. She says, "Thank you everyone who believed in me from the beginning and continuously supported Beaumont and I! I am so grateful for everyone who contributed to the huge amount collected for Beaumont and for all your kind words - getting to the top of kilimanjaro was just the cherry on top!"

Congratulations to Clare and massive thanks for her funding for patient monitors on the neurosurgical wards.
