The most basic equipment in any medical care facility is its beds. In recent years, wards throughout Beaumont Hospital have been upgrading and replacing their bed stock with a supply of electric beds - a prerequisite for caring for patients with high dependency needs for both staff and patients.

These beds will benefit the patients greatly - patients are less likely to develop bedsores as a result of being able to manage a greater frequency of postural adjustment.  The use of the bed encourages blood flow and affords greater independence to the patient while also reducing manual handling risk to the healthcare professional.

In 2018, we provided a total of €43,992 for the purchase of electric beds to Banks, St Raphaels, St Peters, Corrigan, St Laurences, Hamilton, St Marys, and Phoenix Wards.
