Thursday, 13 October, 2016

On the October bank holiday weekend we will be climbing Lugnaquilla - the highest mountain in Wicklow and the highest in Ireland outside of Kerry - to raise funds for Beaumont Hospital.

The lure of' Lug' is big for many ramblers and walkers who want to take their conquests to the next level and this represents a great opportunity to take it on and  scratch it from your bucket list! We'll be joining in the Wicklow Walking Festival and guided by a highly experienced mountian guide.

Here's some numbers of interest!

925 metres - the height of Lugnaquilla. It rewards the effort of climbing it with panoramic views over Glendalough and the Wicklow hills and views inland over the Blessington Lakes and Co. Kildare
16 km - up and down, that's the distance you will cover
6-8 hours - the time it will take
29 October - the date of the climb
8.30 am - meeting at Brockagh Resource Centre
€60 - the cost of taking part
50% - over half of this comes to Beaumont Hospital Foundation

This climb is classed as moderate to difficult and will require you to have courage (!) and somegood boots, mountain poles, rain gear and a packed lunch.

The autumnal scenery will be at its best and can only add to what will be a lovely challenge for all you out doorsy types!
