International Nurses Day Celebrations!

Monday, 16 May, 2016

Nurses at Beaumont Hospital joined in the worldwide celebrations for International Nurse’s Day on May 12th, a date that marks the anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale and recognises the contribution that nurses make to our society.

Beaumont Hospital employs approximately 1,100 nurses from all nationalities who work across all wards and departments.

A special celebration lunch party was organised for the nurses to include the many international candidates who work in Beaumont Hospital. Three hundred cupcakes were ordered for the celebration with a raffle ticket attached for entry into a prize draw and many of the nurses brought their own home-baked cakes to the party.

Patients and their relatives also contributed to the celebrations by leaving comment cards in drop boxes on all the wards, giving messages of support and thanks to the nurses in Beaumont Hospital who we regard as the best!

It was wonderful afternoon with a performance from the staff choir and a very special poem about nursing written by Yvonne Ryan.

Thanks to everyone for helping us celebrate the importance of our nursing staff.
