Staff of St Brigids Ward Raise €20,000 to fund new electric beds

Tuesday, 26 January, 2016

Congratulations to the staff of St Brigids Ward in meeting their fundraising target of €20,000 to fund eleven new electric beds to the ward. In just three short months, the staff raised the funds through an abseil in Croke Park, a cake sale outside the canteen and also received generous donations from patients and their families. The staff were wonderfully committed to making this happen, from a point of view of easing their role in caring for patients and to help patients with serious neurological diseases (such as Motor Neuron Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Epilepsy, Stroke and Parkinsons) to be more in control of their environment.

With the help of the Foundation, they organised specific posters and leaflets advertising that they were fundraising for the new beds which helped to bring public attention to their need.  Niamh Long, CNM3 said, "I am delighted, proud and very grateful to the staff of Brigids Ward who have made this happen and in such a short time. So many people don't realise that we need to fundraise for equipment and people have been so generous with their support.  On behalf of the staff and patients, I want to thank those who contributed for making Beds for Brigids a reality!"
