Climbing Mountains for the National Neurosurgical Centre

Thursday, 06 October, 2016

On Saturday, April 2nd, 17 people climbed to the summit of Carrauntouhil, Ireland's highest peak, in County Kerry to raise funds for the National Neurosurgical Centre in Beaumont Hospital.

Despite the desperate weather on the way down on Friday and real doubts about whether we'd be able to make the climb the following day, Saturday dawned grey and overcast but with no rain or wind. The unexpected weather window allowed us to set off from Cronin's Yard and climb up through the Devil's Ladder to the roof of Ireland! We battled to the summit from where we enjoyed fabulous views of the Reeks and Dingle Bay.  It was a tough climb to the top but all agreed that the trek down was the hardest part of the challenge.

It eightr hour climb raised over €70,000 for the Sam Creedon Fund for the National Neurosurgical Centre.
