Departing Bray at 8.00am, cyclists will gather into pre-determined groups (based on level of experience) before heading down to the coast at Greystones. From here we will take the scenic coastal route passing through Wicklow Town and its historic Gaol, Brittas bay and Arklow. Veering slightly away from the coast the road loops its way round Tara Hill, before we get back to the sea at Courtown. It is then a straightforward cycle through the attractive village of Blackwater and close to the beach at Curracloe (used as the Normandy landing beach in the film saving Private Ryan).
As we approach Wexford town, our finish is just across the bridge, a really attractive way to enter the town.
Group 2 - Bray to Wexford, 145km
The fit and ambitious cyclists will head back north initially to ride up the beautiful Glencree Valley joining the Military Road in the Wicklow Mountains National Park to traverse the Sally Gap before rejoining the main route near Brittas Bay (145km/1670m)
Group 3 - Arklow to Wexford, 65Km
Those with more limited cycling experience and fitness can begin their challenge in Arklow town joining the other groups for the ride along the Co Wexford coast line into Wexford Town. (65km/350m)
When all groups are in, we will have a well earned celebratory meal where stories of the day's endeavours can be exchanged before a bus transfer back to the two starting points at Arklow and Bray. Meanwhile your bike will be carefully packed for transport in our vans back to the your starting point.
