Beaumont Hospital, the second largest acute care facility in the country, provides 24 hour emergency services, 365 days a year, to more than 45,000 patients annually.
At the moment, elderly and injured patients who arrive in our extremely busy emergency department (ED) have to manoeuvre themselves onto the patient trolleys and often, they are weak and unable to do so without manual assistance from staff.
Staff in the ED are seeking to replace the entire stock of trolleys with new height-adjustable models which drop to the floor and will make access so much easier for elderly and injured patients. The adjustable-height feature will also be an enormous aid to medical staff involved in the patient’s care and treatment.
To replace the existing 24 trolleys and purchase a small number of bariatric trolleys to accommodate larger patients, we need to raise over €110k. The fundraising has begun with proceeds from the Staff Gala Ball earmarked to start the drive.
